Tel Aviv Shoreline

by P. David Hornik (January 2015)

The shadows on the shore

recover an innocence.

Two are tossing a ball.

Soon they’ll disappear into the dark

and become something else—

furtive lovers,

forms at the outskirts of frolic,

stalkers of themselves.

But at sunset

they seem for a moment almost

admissible into innocence

while the sun shatters

into clouds.
