In late June 2012, I was invited by the Pensacola Bible Baptist Church in Florida (PBBBC) to present on the Muslim Brotherhood. The topic was suggested by the Pastor Dr. Peter Ruckman and Associate Pastor Brian Donovan. They thought the Church membership could benefit with information on the Muslim Brotherhood given the looming  Presidential election in Egypt and alleged influence in America. The pastors scheduled the presentation on a Wednesday fellowship evening on June 27th.

Although I knew the PBBC community was strongly Christian Zionist with members whom I had befriended, I did not know what to expect.  A number had undertaken Missions to Israel in solidarity with the Jewish state.  It is exemplified in a bumper sticker I found in  PBBC bookstore featuring an Israeli flag and the following quotes:

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem - Psalm 122:6a        I will Bless them that Bless Thee - Genesis 12:3a

What impressed me were the several hundred church members who showed up that evening were attentive. Following the Power Point presentation, a number of church members came forward and asked follow up questions and where they could find further information.  I directed them to the Washington, DC –based  Center of Security Policy 10 part educational program: Muslim Brotherhood in America.

Dr. Ruckman, the venerable Pastor founder of PBBC reinforced the points made in the presentation in his homily that followed. He  pointed out the callous indifference shown by American mainstream Christian church leaders to the pogroms perpetrated  by Jihadists on the beleagured Christian communities in the Middle East and elsewhere in the Muslim ummah.

The following morning, I went back to PBBC and chanced upon a member doing carpentry work on the campus facility.  He came over and thanked me for the presentation that he said had created a buzz among the members. The comment heartened me that  a community of working Americans in the heartland understood the information I conveyed in the presentation the prior evening.

In late July  a controversy erupted in Washington triggered by a letter sent to several federal agency inspector generals by five GOP House Members led by Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN). They requested  an investigation of alleged Muslim Brotherhood influence in the federal government . The lightening rod was accusations concerning Ms. Huma Abedin’s close family association, with international Muslim Brotherhood figures. Ms. Abdein is the the personal Deputy Chief of Staff of Secretary of State Clinton.  Rep. Bachmann and her four House colleagues were taken to task by Republican Sens. McCain and Graham and House Speaker Boehner.

According to the Washington Post, Rep. Bachman responded to McCain and other critics saying:

“The intention of the letters was to outline the serious national security concerns I had and ask for answers to questions regarding the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical group’s access to top Obama administration officials”.
Bachmann cited her concerns that Egyptian Hani Nour Eldin, a known member of terror group Gamaa Islamiyya, had been granted a visa to visit the United States and then meet with administration officials while in Washington.
