Caucasus suicide bomber named as Russian widow Bookmark and Share
(Reuters) - An ethnic Russian woman, who was both wife and widow of Islamist militants, was named on Wednesday as the suicide bomber who killed a moderate Muslim cleric in the North Caucasus just as President Vladimir Putin was pleading for national unity.

Tuesday's assassination of Said Atsayev, 74, a prominent Sufi sheikh in the troubled province of Dagestan who had spoken out against violent Islam, heightened tensions which Putin, visiting another Muslim region, had been trying to calm.

Police said Aminat Kurbanova (picture here) had posed as a pilgrim to the cleric's home and detonated an explosive belt packed with nails and ball bearings, killing Atsayev, herself and six others, including an 11-year-old boy visiting with his parents.

A security source said the woman, aged either 29 or 30, was born with the ethnic Russian family name Saprykina but converted to Islam and was married to an Islamist militant. Two previous husbands, also militants, had been killed, the source added.

Oh, dear.  Yet another entry for the e-clippings file that I have called 'the dangerous convert'.

How long will it be before somebody like Samantha Lewthwaite does - or attempts - the same?

Memo to families in the West, and beyond the west, of non-Muslim background and profession, who have a son or daughter or sibling or cousin who has (to everyone's consternation) joined the Ummah, the Mohammedan Mob, whether because of taking a wrong turn in their 'Spiritual Search', or because of 'Marriage Jihad' or a plausible, smiling, persuasive Mohammedan workmate, schoolmate or roommate at college: be warned.  Keep in contact - if you can - so as to be able to warn Authority if your kinsman or kinswoman suddenly ups and lights out for some distant Theatre of Jihad, such as Somalia, or Syria, or Yemen, or Afghanistan, or the Caucasus; but in any case watch, watch, watch for danger.

Your family member has joined an entity that is larger, older and much more deadly dangerous than the Triads or the Mafi or the Mexican drug cartels; a blend of outlaw biker gang, death cult (like the Thuggees), global crime syndicate and crushingly totalitarian politico-social system, all concealed - at least in the west - beneath a superficial veneer of religiosity and respectability (those elegantly-suited smoothly-smiling Imam Raufs and Tariq Ramadans and lawyers and doctors and engineers;  those exquisite un-hijabbed Huma Abedins along with the demurely-wimpled likes of Dalia Mogahed and so many other butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouths oh-so-demure doe-eyed females in their faux-modest Slave Hoods).
