Literary Review

Last time I sang the praises of Literary Review on The Corner, I got an angry email from a reader who'd got hold of a copy & was scandalized to find that some of the contributors were LIBERALS. I am sorry to have offended that reader's sensibilities.

To less fastidious NER readers, I recommend the current issue. Not only does it contain a nice review of Unknown Quantity by the wise, just, and perceptive Alexander Masters, it also carries an UN-friendly review, by some contemptible worm lurking behind the name "Charles Elliott," of Counterpoints, the New Criterion's 25th birthday collection (which includes a contribution by me, unmentioned by the wretched "Elliott" creature).

Any magazine that reviews me twice (if only implicitly) in one issue has my undying loyalty. Even if they won't comp me a subscription. In spite of all the advertising I've done for them.
