The man in the motor trade sounded so dull that I dismissed him as the girl's boyfriend (George Best would have been more my type at the time) and came to the conclusion that he was a potential employer, financial independence being a more important step, in my opinion.
Perhaps I was too sensible as a teenager.

However I agree with you on the subject of modern song lyrics and their poetry.
