Muslim women in Saudi Arabia must be driven by male drivers, who can double, in some circumstances, as chaperones. For Muslim women are essentially the property of Muslim men: property, property, property. And they must not be mislaid. Or waylaid. Or even (horribile dictu) -- conceivably or inconceivably -- laid.
