"All The Brothers Have Been Liberated, Including Sheikh Batarfi"

Three hundred members of Al-Qaeda, for some reason imprisoned rather than executed, have just been freed and are running amok, apparently, in southern Yemen, while what remained of the government — whether the civilians semi-loyal to Hadi, or the military semi-loyal to his predecessor Saleh — was distracted by so much else.

Here is the story, with photographs of “Sheikh” Batarfi, one of the AQAP leaders, enjoying himself, and playing let’s-pretend, at one of the presidential palaces. You can allow yourself to be amused — but only very briefly — at the crazineess of it all.
