by Michael Shindler (March 2025)

Light fingers across a clarinet.
The back-and-forth movement of a bow.
Every third beat of a minuet.
–
Time moves fast,
But seems slow.
–
Consider how a chandelier shines
In a room with no other reason
To be lit! And in the afterglow,
In the rhyme of evening, consider
How an archer seems slow and yet his
Arrow fast as it flies with swung-pitch
Past us like another sun dawning.
