The Calico Cat

by David P. Gontar (September 2016)

                                                             the calico cat

                                               came back

                                                   to the place

where they ripped the hedges up

                                                   the calico cat came back

                                               and gave a frown

                                                 it bore eight kittens there

where the parking lot is black and bare

                                                  and the sun stares down

                                               as the calico cat

paws at the dust so brown
