The Iron Bird

by Elizabeth Noble

The Iron bird,

flys so high

through the sky

with no stars.

For the only stars

that shine tonight

in New York City

are the ones

that man has made.

We’ve covered up

the heavenly stars

in our search for gold,

but now the truth

must be told.

Iron bird,

you can’t sing,

You have no feathers for your wings.
