The Prairie

by Armando Simón (September 2024)

Prairie (Hans Ripa, 20th C)

I tell you the prairie ‘tis true
Has a beauty all its own brimming
With a life that’s hidden lying low.

It’s a calm quiet beauty a curious
Silence that’s subtly suffused, surrounds and subdues
You, the wind’s wave after wave revealed
By the grass or the farmer’s grain.
