Back in the USSR–Trump’s Coming Jan 6 Indictment

by Roger L. Simon

One thing you can say for former Soviet NKVD chief Lavrentiy Beria, he was more honest and transparent when he said “show me the man and I’ll show you the crime,” than vengeful ideologues at our Justice Department or special counsels operating therefrom.

Their watchword might better be “show me a political opponent and I’ll show you his jail cell.”

So it’s really no surprise we learn Donald Trump has received a letter from special counsel Jack Smith informing the former president he is a target of the Jan. 6 grand jury investigation.

It’s similarly no surprise Trump says he expects to be arrested and indicted. We would be shocked if he weren’t, given the way he’s been targeted.

Further, it’s not inconsequential that this letter reached Trump only a few days before the latest bombshell from Congress.

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday played a video for House Republicans that shows President Biden denying any wrongdoing related to his family’s business dealings, one day before a whistleblower is expected to tell Congress that the investigation into Hunter Biden was politicized,” Fox News reported.

“The video, obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital, shows a timeline of Biden defending his family’s actions. But it ends with IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley claiming the IRS probe he was part of was prevented from taking steps ‘that could have led us to President Biden.’”

Stepping forward rapidly, presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy made this ominous warning regarding the possible indictment of Trump on this matter:

“The left calls January 6th a threat to ‘our democracy,’ but the ultimate threat is when politically unaccountable actors literally remove democratically elected officials from office. That’s why the pending January 6th indictment of Donald Trump is arguably the most dangerous of all to our Constitutional Republic. I believe the federal administrative police state is preparing to invoke the ‘insurrection’ clause from Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump from running, in a way that past indictments technically would not.”

Mr. Ramaswamy adds this is not entirely theoretical because New Mexico County Commissioner Cuoy Griffin was removed from office merely for being present on Capitol grounds on Jan 6 without even entering the building.

We no longer have competing political parties that even occasionally might compromise for the betterment of the Republic.

I don’t know Mr. Smith, but as an intelligent human being, he must be aware of how he’s damaging the country by indicting the former president in this matter.

By the looks of things, he doesn’t seem to care. He undoubtedly thinks he’s “doing good,” as have many in his position in the past.

It’s almost as if seventy-five million Trump supporters were being baited to respond.

Whether this is conscious or not is moot. Whatever you do, do not take that bait.

Now is the time more than ever to rally in support of the truth.

If this indictment actually occurs, it will also be the time—maybe it always was—for Republican candidates to fully unite behind Trump.

We throw around the term “weaponization” in regard to the Justice Department but this would be more than merely that.

It would be “nuking” justice in America in an attempt to shut down the voice of half of its citizens.

One can easily imagine what Messrs. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping must be thinking, not to mention Ayatollah Khamenei: And you think you’re superior to us—what a joke!
