Bernard Lewis shook his head and described that article to me as one that he and many others found “disgraceful” because Mottahedeh of course knew better.
As to Obama, he’s a lot like Professor Irwin Corey, World’s Greatest Authority. But Corey was funny, a figure from the days of Tom Lehrer, Senor Wences, and Sid Caesar and The Show of Shows. When Obama says such things — well, to take the Wayback Machine even further, ‘taint funny, McGee.
