With the world as crazy as it it, jihadis slicing each others heads off, President Obama lost in space and the Republican Congress missing opportunity after opportunity, we shift gears and take an academic look at how the language of Hebrew was revitalized starting in the late 1880’s to become the technical language that helped build Israel into an intellectual, economic and military powerhouse. We feature Dr. Norman Berdichevsky author of Modern Hebrew – The Past and Future of a Revitalized Language, who takes us on a fascinating journey from Biblical times to current day usage of essentially what is a “new” Hebrew fully adopted and authorized by the Israeli government. In addition we have Jerusalem Jane reporting on this weekend’s celebration of Yom Yerushlayim, which recognizes the breaking of the Arab occupation of Jerusalem, in the 1967 military defeat at the hands of the Israelis.
