“A cultural minority shunned by friends for their political views will shy away no more” says today’s Times of London,

Well thank God for that.

Not a luvvie or a muso myself, I totally understand where they are coming from!

Everybody knows that The Western world’s “creatives” tend to go with the flow when it comes to things like Brexit, Donald Trump, or any hint of nationalism.   Indeed, a survey conducted by the Creative Industries Federation UK found that 96 per cent of members were opposed to Brexit, and many of this 96 per cent have spoken vehemently against it.

But, a group of actors, artists and writers, fed up with being shunned by friends and shouted out of the ring by colleagues for their pro-Brexit views, have decided to come out of the closet in support of Brexit.

This revolution by the 4 percent started with a meeting at Wetherspoon’s in North London.

Supporters include the actors Sir Michael Caine and John Cleese, Who rocker Roger Daltry, and novelists Susan Hill and Dreda Say Mitchell.

Michael Lightfoot, the artist who convened the group said:

Most of our friends are Remain supporters and there is a substantial chunk that have turned into monsters.  They have become hysterical about it.  I have lost an awful lot of friends.  I have had hate mail.

Lightfoot also said that he believes there are a lot of people in the arts community who fear for their funding and so play along with the ideological default position.

Reasons for backing Brexit amongst this group are varied, but include restoring sovereignty to Britain.

Artists 4 Brexit has become a most unlikely but welcome advocate for the D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
