General Election

Well, I have been and voted, done my duty as I have in every election (general and local) since 1972.

I can do no more than that. Just hope that the polls and what I hear talking to people translate into enough seats for Reform that the new Labour government (I don’t think anyone doubts that they will be elected) has something energetic to oppose them, although they will not get enough seats to be His Majesty’s official opposition.

  1. The worst possible result would be a landslide, giving Starmer the right to introduce “steamroller” politics.
I too am hoping that Farage will be able to form a credible opposition but if he can’t then hold on to your wallets.

The left always want to balance the scales, in a form of revenge, by taxing the wealthy.

But the reality is that the wealthy are always one step ahead in insulating themselves from tax grabs.

That means that they have to put the burden on the middle class because there’s no other source to collect from.
There’s no way the policy is going to be changed and no way that the phantom money isn’t going to be spent.

So they scour the financial landscape for easy shakedowns.

Retirements savings, Home equity, inheritance taxes, pension plans; you name it they’ll be after it.

    And for what?

Foreign Aid, unlimited funds for Ukraine, penalty payments for cancelled Tory contracts.
The money will flow out faster than it comes in, but unfortunately this is the only way to get the current incompetents out.

After reading Rory Stewart’s book “How not to be a politician”, this outgoing lot would certainly have emptied the Sahara of sand.

On the bright side , at least it’s not a dictatorship.
