Jean-Marie Le Pen, His Daughter’s Worst Enemy

More than anyone else, Jean-Marie Le Pen, a real not a putative fascist, a defender of Petain, a dismisser of the German murders of Jews as a mere “detail” of World War II, has — because of all that he is, and he is that all even more today — made France safe for Islam, has prevented the warnings early on of such early worriers as Jacques Ellul from being heard. Now he’s at it again, and his presence, and his remarks (his “derapages”) are damaging the electoral hopes of the party whose leaders are sick of him, and the one who is most sick of him, furious with him, is his daughter Marine Le Pen.

Story, in French, here.
