I’ve yet to hear a candidate put forward the only viable option: to weaken the camp of Islam by simply allowing the divides (sunni-shia, Arab-other ethnicities, etc.,) to widen and to allow the factions to fight eachother. If they’re fighting each other, they’re not fighting us. If they’re using up their weapons on each other, they’re not using them on us. This is classic military thinking – weaken the enemy by exploiting his vulnerability. The marked tendency for war and violence among Muslims and Muslim polities, should be contained, not prevented by sacrificing our young men.
