Jewish Victims, Jewish Hostages, and Another Failure by the UN

by Phyllis Chesler

The world will never be the same again after October 7th.

Jews are, once more, afraid that “Never Again” can, and actually is, happening again.

We know in our bones that we are not safe anywhere in the world, not even in Israel. We also know that hordes of human rights activists, professors, students, politicians, and journalists are baying for our blood but, Orwell style, claiming it is freedom from oppression that they desire.

Israelis, (Jews, Christians, Muslims, etc.), know that they are being forced to fight alone against Iran–the largest state sponsor of Islamist terrorism. Although all Israelis are willing to fight, President Biden and most of the world want them to stop, to cease their fire, almost perversely refusing to understand that this will give Hamas time to regroup and to commit an endless series of 10/7s. Nor does the world comprehend that the IDF is actually escorting Gazan civilians safely from the north to the south–even as Hamas is shooting down those Gazans who are trying to flee.

President Biden has provided one hundred million dollars in “humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people” most of which will resupply Hamas.

Even complacent Jews begin to see what our best cognitive warriors have been saying for the last twenty years, namely that alleged anti-racists and anti-genocidists are projecting onto the Jews the very crimes that Hamas is committing and livestreaming as well.

This includes Western elites who are supporting a fascist death cult as if it is a peaceful pro-human rights organization.

Western academics, including feminists, have completely abandoned both reason and morality.  Or, they are revealing more openly who they really are. They are gloating about Israelis who have been raped, burned alive, shot dead, or kidnapped. Or, they are maintaining a pained and awful silence.

The United Nations has not passed a resolution condemning Hamas’s pogrom on steroids, nor has it even noticed, no less called for aid for the more than 150,000 Israelis who have been displaced both from the south and the north of Israel, and who are living in hotels or with friends or relatives.

It took one whole month after Hamas’s genocidal attack for the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to finally issue an individual statement which condemned Hamas’s attacks against Israel–but he also expressed “deep distress over Israel’s announcement that it will initiate a complete siege of the Gaza Strip.”

Attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has written to the United Nations High Commission of Refugees. In an email, she stated:

“The UNHCR’s complete disregard for the Jewish victims of this conflict is not merely an omission—it is a betrayal. While the UNHCR has mobilized quickly to aid Palestinians, it has left Israelis to fend for themselves. This neglect is particularly egregious given that Israel has facilitated humanitarian aid to Gaza, even as Hamas blocks such efforts in Gaza.”

So far, the UN has not even passed a resolution demanding the return of the Israeli hostages whom Hamas’s ghouls have kidnapped and disappeared into the military tunnels beneath the hospitals, UN schools, and mosques in Gaza. They have not called for aid for the more than 150,000 Israelis who have been internally displaced.

The UN continues to fail this moment in history. Their genius resides in passing resolutions which condemn Israel and legalize Jew hatred.
