Thank you – I need some of that energy and exhuberance
I should add that my mother had an extensive collection of old vinyl records – the original releases of the sound-tracks of the film versions of many of these classic musicals by R & H (and others), and as a young teenager in the mid-late 1970s I and my siblings used to listen to them over and over. We had records of the songs from 'Carousel", "Oklahoma", "South Pacific" and "The King and I". We also had the records of "Carmen Jones", "Porgy and Bess" (I particularly remember the cheeky number "I've got plenty of nuthin'"), and the less well-known "Brigadoon", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" ("I'm just a lonesome hound dawg…") and "The Pyjama Game".
