Lies, Damned Lies And Remoaner Statistics

Recently the remoaners and the fake news press have started to say that unemployment in the UK is rising catastrophically because of the imminence of Brexit. That assertion is manifestly untrue. Not only is unemployment generally much lower than at any time in the last forty years but wages are rising as the economic outlook improves and European migrants return home.

As of the 13th of November the British government’s Office of National Statistics released the following:

The Labour Force Survey shows that, between April to June 2018 and July to September 2018, the number of people in work and the number of unemployed people both increased (the latter mainly due to immigration from the third world by mainly Mohammedan freeloaders, it seems),  but the number of people aged from 16 to 64 years not working and not seeking nor available to work (economically inactive) was little changed.

It also shows that there were 32.41 million people in work, 23,000 more compared with April to June 2018 and 350,000 more than for a year earlier.

Further, the employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 years who were in work) was 75.5%, little changed compared with April to June 2018 but higher than for a year earlier by a useful and significant half of a percentage point (75.0%).

The next release about labour force statistics will be on the 11th of December when it is fully expected that the figures above will be confirmed by survey as wholly accurate.
