Memo to all weak-kneed Republicans: Get a grip
by Kenneth R. Timmerman
Oh, horrors! Oh, shocking! Oh, lewd, lewd, lewd!
Spare me. What’s really shocking is the smarmy sanctimonious hypocrisy of it all.
It’s comical to watch the drama coming from Democrats in response to the 11-year old “hot mic” incident with Donald Trump.
Democrats who defended a President who admitted to receiving oral sex from an intern in the Oval Office while discussing bombing runs against Serbia, and who think it’s just hunky-dory to put boys in the Girls’ locker room in public schools
But Republicans? Really? Senators Mike Lee and his ilk (who, let’s not forget, have long been #NeverTrumpers), climbing high on their sanctimonious horse to say Trump’s comments were just about the worst thing that’s ever been said about women?
Puh-leese. As Charles Krauthammer so cogently pointed out on Fox News the evening the scandal broke, if you thought Donald Trump was a saint, you haven’t been paying attention.
Any Republican with an ounce of political savvy should understand that Hillary’s playbook is all about impugning Donald Trump’s character. That is all she’s got. Because if she ran on the issues — her secret endorsement of open borders, for example – she would go down in flames.
It’s time our party got a collective grip on itself.
