More on US Aid corruption

By William Corden

I was going to comment on Armando’s essay but I think it’s worth highlighting the extent of the incompetence

I keep recommending a book written by UK ex-politician Rory Stewart.  It’s called “Politics on the Edge” or “How not to be a politician” in North America. It is a very enlightening story and I recommend it even though I disagree totally with Stewart’s assessment of President Trump

He talks about foreign aid UK style and it’s no different from the stupidity/corruption in the U.S. and other rich western democracies.

In one instance he was asked to sign a cheque for hundreds of millions of dollars to the Afghan Police department, which he knows is one of the most corrupt organisations in the world.

He’d only just been appointed minister, so he was naïve enough to think that his refusal to sign would stop the money from flowing to them.

He was met with iron-willed resistance from the permanent undersecretary but he stood his ground only to find out that they did an end run around his authority and got a more senior minister to approve the payment. The Afghans got their dough!

These foreign aid departments are so infested with lefties and nepotism that it’s almost impossible to cleanse them.

History has shown that it’s only revolutions or firebrands that put a stop to the largesse.  (only to be replaced by their own largesse,  but I digress) )

Now, if we can only find a way to redirect those funds to cleaning up the endless, boarded up main streets of almost every town in America (just watch a few you tube documentaries if you want confirmation)

Any documentary that you watch shows the streets of both major and minor cities as forlorn and deserted slums where even the druggies have moved out to the suburbs.

Seattle, Portland, San Fran, L.A.  and a particularly distressing one about Reno, Nevada have you shaking your head in disbelief when juxtaposed against the running tap of money that pours out of US Aid.
