My good friend Bill often passes on very thought provoking comments. His latest involved the recent Passover/Easter season and, among other things, noted the Judaean rabbi, Jesus, forming the connecting link between Judaean/Hebraic monotheistic religious beliefs and Christianity. I’ll add extra historical context and background as as I proceed.
Biil refers to the two men also crucified along with Yehoshua as petty criminals.
I’ll deal with this below because the reality was quite different, and if you’ll read the following linked article and pay close attention to the latter half, you’ll understand why…
The Yehoshua/Jesus who was executed by Rome the same way hundreds of thousands of his Judaean countrymen were (many also crucified), was far different from the Jesus we’ve come to know who emerged almost four centuries later as a result of much debate, including bloody war waged against those who espoused conflicting views with Constantine’s bishops, regarding how to interpret the very life and nature of Yehoshua, humble teacher, “rabbi,” of Nazareth’s, very being—Divine, human, semi-Divine, etc.—after Rome’s Emperor Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E. upon his conversion.
Next, permit me to refer to him by his Hebrew name, Yehoshua/Yeshua. There is no letter “J” in the Hebrew alphabet, and it’s best to refer to this very influential being, whether human, Divine, or somewhere in between, by his Hebrew name—that of his ancient heritage and people, not the Latin name of his and hundreds of thousands of his fellow indigenous countrymen’s oppressors and killers.
Unfortunately, Pope Francis denied Yehoshua/Jesus’s Jewish heritage when he
bought into the deliberate Arab lying to kafir Infidel tactic known as taqiyyah, having the baby Jesus dressed in a “Palestinian” Arab keffiyeh and other hostile activities he partook in related to the besieged, beleaguered, repeatedly terrorized, and attacked resurrected minuscule nation of Yehoshua’s people, Israel.
The first task of the 4th century Council of Nicaea involved, among other things, disconnecting Yehoshua from his horrendous plight of his own people and their own already two millennia old history (since Abraham arrived from Ur of the Cbaldeans) and personal religious beliefs, existing as a Judaean/Jew living under a very cruel occupation.
Allow me to offer one very specific example of how this disconnect worked.
On the start of Passover, like his other countrymen, Yehoshua made pilgrimage to the restored Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem during the Hebrew Bible’s Holy Days of Redemption, the Passover season.
This was always a nightmare for Judaea’s pagan Roman occupiers since it was the season of redemption and freedom commemorating the Jews’s flight from bondage in Egypt, led by Moses and Aaron, and their arrival under the leadership of Jesus/Yehoshua’s 14 century earlier namesake, Moses’s chief general and successor, Yehoshua ben Nun.
Yehoshua instructed his disciples to bring him a white donkey to ride into Jerusalem on (Zechariah 9:9).
Neither Yehoshua, his disciples, nor the Romans were naive about the implications of this move.
Hebrew Prophets proclaimed that the mortal Hebrew Meshiach, very special tool of G_d king (Messiah) would enter Jerusalem humbly upon a white donkey.
The results of Yehoshua’s deliberate act were explosive and Rome had to contend with the prospect of another revolt of the Judaean masses. Yeshoshua became a dead man walking from that moment onwards. Rome had already crucified thousands of Judaeans it perceived as “trouble makers.”
Additionally, there’s no doubt that at least several of his disciples were Zealots or at least other activists regarding the hated Roman occupation. This would make him a beloved hero to most of his countrymen.
Like all nations under yesrs of cruel occupation, Judaea had its collaborators as well. Think the Vichy French who collaborated with the Nazis during the Holocaust, etc.
Three centuries after Yehishua’s crucifixion, the first task of the Council of Nicaea thus included disconnecting the now Divine Christ Jesus from his own people and subjugated nation’s tragic plight.
The Gospel of Mark, the oldest, was most probably written in Rome while scores of thousands of Judaeans were arriving as slaves to build the Colosseum, and so forth.

Mark had to distance Yehoshua’s/Jesus further from his people because huge numbers of Romans also perished in the conquest of Judaea. He didn’t want the new community of Christians affiliated with those pesky Jews who fought time and again to live as free people in their one and only historic homeland.
Open this link to see an actual Roman coin of conquest. Note it’s an Iudaea (Judaea) coin of conquest, not an Arabia or Palaestina one.
There simply wasn’t any of tlhe latter back then. The opening link above explains this nicely.
Judaea rose at least four major times to rid itself of its cruel pagan conquerors, from around 66-73 C.E. right up until just before the onslaught of massive waves of jihadi Arab settling, occupying, imperial caliphal armies which burst out of the fast desiccating Arabian Peninsula in the mid-seventh century to literally seek greener pastures at the expense of millions of “kafir” Infidel peoples who were slaughtered, acquiring their lands for the Dar ul-Islam, forcibly Arabizing and Islsmicizing them.
The last revolt, interestingly enough, had tens of thousands of Judaean warriors coming from the hill country (largely out of reach from Roman and Byzantine occupiers) to assist Persia in its conflict with the hated Byzantines.
This was well documented in non-Jewish sources. Before the advent of Islam and the Arab conquests of both Israel/Judaea and Persia alike, Jews and Persians had mostly good relations.
Indeed, it was Cyrus the Great who defeated the Babylonians, and who freed the Jews from their captivity there and facilitated their return to Zion—Jerusalem—where they rebuilt their Temple dedicated to G_d.
This ongoing jihad is occurring to this very day as hundreds of Hindus are massacred in India, ditto in sub-Saharan Africa, Thailand, and so forth. And it’s what October 7th, 2023 in Israel and September 11, 2001 was all about
Returning to the formative Council of Nicaea, there were a good number of different “gospels” by different authors, each swearing to possess the real truths.
Constantine’s main bishops won the day, after bloody wars against those who opposed the new official Roman Catholic religious doctrine. The four Synoptic Gospels and that of John, and the early letters of Paul were now the official main body of the New Testament’s beliefs.
The following link provides additional historical background to that which is included at the beginning of this analysis…
And on the same specific topic Bill spoke about in his correspondence, here’s the true story about who Yehoshua/Jesus was crucified along with.

This has been on my mind for a VERY long time.
Direct worship of the Principal (Yehoshua) or The Father – there is no difference – is preferable. An intermediary is not necessary.
