Nuclear War

By William Corden

Is it just me, or is the mainstream media taking a flippant approach to the possibility of Nuclear War. They invariably write about it as if it would just be another outbreak of hostilities, and the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki seems like a minor event  to them, probably because it’s not burned in the memory of today’s “soi disant” journalists.
When the possibility  was ever present in the 60s 70s and 80s, there were genuine fears that an outbreak would mean the end of civilization as we knew it and the media was genuinely scared. But now they just minimize the awful possibilities. In fact they now almost ENCOURAGE it with their war baiting editorials.
The need to talk, compromise and limit the spread of nuclear arms  has never been greater because there’s so many actors in the mix that one of them might just blow a fuse unexpectedly.
The number one priority in my mind is to prevent Iran from being able to deploy one,  I’m sure they are just inches away from a secret test.
Maybe Israel will be the ones allowed to destroy their labs by proxy.

  1. The media and some of the US Government don’t seem too concerned, either. The root cause of this I think is US meddling in Ukrainian regime change since around 2012. I think that Putin views Ukraine in NATO similarly to how the US viewed Soviet missiles in Cuba. He has already let it be known that nuclear weapons are not off the table., yet the US Government keeps poking the Russian bear with a stick. The recklessness of this policy is amazing.

    1. I agree with this completely. In the UK it’s the same. People these days don’t seem to understand that words and actions have consequences. Putin is telling us he’s got a missile specially designed for us which can get here in 20 minutes and people laugh.

He seems like the only adult in the room.

  2. If Iran were to get their hands on the finished product they would use it against Israel without a moment’s hesitation. The Iranian leaders in power hate them so much that loss of life is meaningless to them.
The great pity is that almost EVERY Iranian I’ve ever met has been the most gracious and helpful of people. Iranian individuals in everyday life are usually very sweet and can get along in perfect harmony with Israelis in everyday life.

  3. What kinds and quantities of nuclear weapons has Iran obtained from North Korea, Pakistan, China, in addition to weaponized fentanyl, ebola virus ?
Do we really believe the Covid hoax was an accident?

  4. In the 80s I was in favour of strong nuclear deterrence, extremely opposed to unilateralism [and subsequently unsurprised to learn the degree to which that movement was a Russian front operation], and even tentatively grateful that the existence of nuclear weapons had prevented what I think would have been an inevitable conventional WW3 well before then, and which even non nuclear would have exceeded WW2. By the 80s, a conventional all out war would have been far worse than WW2. Even if shorter.

And I have not really changed those views. But it is interesting to watch the progressive media class switch from barely contained pro-Russian and unilateralist sympathies to gung ho war all the time enthusiasm.
