Oslo shooting: Pride march cancelled after two killed in ‘Islamist terror attack’ at gay bar

The Telegraph has updated their headline from the earlier (lowish key) report, and in the process deleted all the comments. No criticism of the ‘religion of peas’ as one comment called it, as they confirm the bleeding obvious.

“All events linked to Oslo Pride have been cancelled” following “clear” recommendations from police, the organisers of the march wrote on Facebook, as the Norwegian security service raised its terror alert to the highest level.

Police said they were investigating the shootings, which left two dead and at least 14 wounded, as a “terrorist attack”.

The anti-terror service later said it was being treated as an “act of Islamist terrorism”.

The suspect is a Norwegian of Iranian descent, police said on Saturday, without naming him. (He’ll be called Mohammed)

The man was known to domestic intelligence services and had had brushes with the law for minor infractions, including knife and drug possession, police said.

Police attorney Christian Hatlo said the suspect was being held on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and terrorism, based on the number of people targeted at multiple locations. “Our overall assessment is that there are grounds to believe that he wanted to cause grave fear in the population,” Hatlo said.

Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports that Norwegian horse-breeder Tormod Bakke Johnsen was making his way to a taxi when he passed the gunman, who pulled out a gun, shouted Allah Akbar and started to fire. Mr Johnsen and his companion ran and got away unharmed.

Also according to Dagbladet  the man is aged 42, has not yet been quested as he refuses to speak until his defence lawyer is organised. He is from the Kurdish part of Iran and came to Norway as a child with his parents. he has convictions for drug offences and also crimes of violence, including a previous stabbing and incidents dating back to his schooldays.  At the time, the court took into account his “obvious mental health problems.” The police have a hypothesis that psychiatry is part of the picture. But of course…don’t they always..
