Ouch! Butterfly Nominee

By Reg Green

Gore Vidal wrote that the journalists he dealt with didn’t know much about anything, except the political opinions of their employers. Never was that clearer than in the midwife’s role the media have played in changing the drab caterpillar we’ve seen as vice president into the radiant butterfly of presumed presidential nominee. OUCH! predicted it when Joe came under pressure from Nancy and Co. but the completeness of the changeabout has disgusted even him.

  1. It’s like the Rutles parody of the Beatles “all you need is love” or a scene from the musical “Hair”. Everybody just loves each other in public and yet can’t stand each other behind the scenes.
The Las Vegas phonyfest was one of the worst examples of election interference/ manipulation that I’ve EVER seen.
No need to worry about the Russians or the Chinese, these Democrats make them look like amateurs.
It was so good I almost would have voted for Pamela? myself… and then I woke up!

    1. “Everybody just loves each other in public and yet can’t stand each other behind the scenes.”

First of all, your claim is untrue. There’s nothing to indicate that the Democrats don’t get along, and Kamala Harris clearly enjoys widespread grassroots enthusiasm. The media can’t make people donate their money.

And second, imagine saying this about the Democrats while being fully on board with Donald Trump’s silencing of all independent voices in the Republican Party and turning it basically into a personality cult. Even his one-time enemies are now groveling sycophants, for they know that they only have a political future if they join the chorus praising The Demagogue to the heavens, and any criticism of where the party is going is political suicide, and gets you abused as a “RINO” or worse.

There are no prizes for guessing what JD Vance, who called Trump “cultural opium” a few years ago, had to do to get himself into the Senate and now onto the Republican ticket.

You and that other middle-aged juvenile Graham always have the dumbest, most adolescent takes.

  2. I’m pretty confident I can speak for Reg on this …..
Thank you very much for the “middle aged and juvenile” adjectives😊.

    1. I wouldn’t say they describe Reg, whose writings are typically worth reading, but they do describe you. Just another immature intellect believing in demagoguery as the answer to the world’s problems. 😘

  3. Friends, countrymen, fellow ikoners, I almost regret leaving the world of an old man’s grumbles (yes, middle-aged sounded flattering but I took it in the sense of my ideas belonging to the middle ages.) ‘Almost’ regret because at the moment of the greatest constitutional crisis in my lifetime I felt I couldn’t stay out of the ring. However, OUCH! is now returning to the non-partisan world where he feels more useful.
    See you soon.

    1. Hey Reg, I’m sorry. If that’s how you feel then I regret engaging with this guy here. It’s not like there’s a shortage of his commentary elsewhere around this place.

I promise I’ll do my part to keep things peaceful on OUCH!’s block, which I enjoy reading regularly.

  4. Thanks for your concern. No, I’m not worried. All my family think I’m medieval too. I’m not changing my private opinions. After all, I’ve held them since the 14th century. However, at this point in our history I think it’s more important in public affairs to bring people together than pull them apart and that, I hope. is what OUCH! will continue to do.
