Predictably, after an election in which each side predicted a golden age if they won and the end of civilization if they lost, the mood of voters has ranged from euphoric to suicidal. To avoid inflated expectations and hope instead to be pleasantly surprised, let’s remember Noel Coward’s timeless warning: “There are bad times just around the corner.”
