Ouch! Longer and Father

     I was told once, when long-distance telephone calls were quite expensive, that whereas the highest number of phone calls in the year were on Mother’s day, Father’s day saw the highest number of collect calls. That is no longer an issue. However, as we ancient nuisances persist in clinging to life instead of doing the decent thing and leaving the family home and a wad of IRA money to the grown-up children, I wondered yesterday into how many filial minds came a thought starting something like  “Ask not what I can do for my father but …..”
