The Iconoclast is starting a small new feature: quotes that Reg Green (columnist for New English Review) comes across in his reading. We’ve called it “Ouch!” because there is generally a bite to them. Here’s the first:
Lord Byron, updating a bulletin that his mother-in-law was dangerously ill, reported that she was now dangerously well.

This is clearly a misogynistic sort of quote from Mr. Byron. How many weeks till he gets cancelled? Can you start a new feature in NER so that we can debate about cancelling Mr. Byron and then track success?
I spoke to his wife. She said her mother thinks he’s a lovable, talented krej, that is, backward jerk, with a hot-butter-stiff spine. The next time she seems him, as reconciliation, she’s going to slap his face using a velvet gloved hand.
