Let’s never forget that, but for the debate that revealed his disastrous mental decline to the world, we’d be facing an election in which a senile Joe Biden, wrapped in swaddling clothes by his promoters to conceal his condition, stood a 50-50 chance of emerging as the leader of the Western world for another four years. How could a great country ever have gotten itself into a mess like that?

Democrats.
Mr. Biden was selected by leading Democrats because the fear was the other contenders couldn’t win the general election. No matter that Mr. Biden wasn’t up for the physical and mental stresses of campaigning. He spent the time after his selection relaxing in his basement.
