Outrage as King’s Cross displays Islamic message about ‘sinners’ on departures board

From X and GB News

Outrage has been sparked by a King’s Cross display board featuring an Islamic teaching that describes people as “sinners” who must “repent.”

On the 9th day of Ramadan, the holiest month for Muslims, the central London train station featured a “Hadith of the day.”

It says: “The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) [Peace Be Upon Him] said: All the sons of Adam are sinners but the best of the sinners are those who repent often.”

The message was broadcast on a full side of the display board beneath the time. It was broadcast alongside several delayed train announcements.

I saw it on X then sought corroboration from a news site.

Father Calvin Robinson replied

Looking forward to Kings Cross sharing the Collect for Ash Wednesday, which is said throughout Lent:

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Another comment, was to the effect that it would be nice if we could have scripture during Lent, Easter and Christmas but the National Secular Society would prevent it.

@networkrail  spokesperson told Charlie Peters of GB News that : “King’s Cross station is made up of a diverse and multi-cultural workforce and at times of religious significance, messages such as these are displayed to celebrate the station’s diversity and inclusivity. “Throughout the year, messaging at the station also celebrates festivals from other religions including Easter, Christmas, Passover, and Diwali to mark the beliefs of our colleagues and passengers.

To which a reply, which accords with my own sentiments, was  “it would be great if @networkrail could kindly confirm what they will be displaying on this board on Easter Sunday? As a Christian, I will take this as direct discrimination if there is no acknowledgement of Easter on the board.
