Reform Islam? Recognize Kurdistan!

by G. Murphy Donovan (August 2015)

Nations create illusions for the same reasons that men pursue fantasy. Reality is often so ugly that wishful thinking becomes a defense mechanism. Such is the case with Palestine and the mythology of a “two-state” solution. A Palestinian state is now a near universal pipe dream, a chimera thought to appease the larger restive Arab and Muslim worlds. In fact, Fatah and Hamas are already two states. And, if the history of the West Bank and Gaza provide any evidence, a united Palestine would surely be dominated by Hamas, in turn legitimizing another proxy variant of the Islamic State nightmare.  more>>>

  1. Please, please, please do not use that nonsense phrase “Abrahamic religions”. It was invented by a Dhimmi and reflects a wholly Muslim mindset that has nothing whatsoever to do with either Judaism or Christianity; acceptance of the concept ‘Abrahamic religions’ is at bottom acceptance of a *Muslim* meme. Franz Rosenzweig (Jew), Jacques Ellul (French reformed Christian) and Mark Durie (Anglican scholar and priest) have each in their respective ways and times simply *demolished* the idea that Islam is somehow a ‘sister’ faith to Christianity and Judaism or that all three have more in common with each other than with anyone else. Please, read Jacques Ellul, “Les Trois Piliers du Conformisme”, where he disposes summarily of the idea that the oft-trotted out lines ‘one god’ or ‘religions of the book’ or ‘children of Abraham’ suffice to establish ‘common ground’; or look up Franz Rosenzweig, who classified Christianity and Judaism together and then placed Islam as a subspecies of..PAGANISM, that is, to use a neutral descriptor, *non-Biblical* religion, religion that does not think of God as Jews think of YHWH or as Christians think of YHWH and Yeshua. Except that Islam is not just ‘non-biblical’, it is explicitly and obsessively and ferociously *anti-biblical*, through and through. Islam knocks on the door of the House of Israel, and of Christendom, claiming kinship, in precisely the same way as a dangerous conman might knock on someone’s door, claiming to be a long-lost cousin, in order to get a foot inside the door…Mark Durie has published a book called “Which God?” I recommend that you read it. You will never, never use the phrase “abrahamic religions’ or “Abrahamic faiths” again. I, personally, refuse to use it; because it is a lie.

  2. Damn, Donovan! Something about your writings just seems to bring out the beast in Chrissy Mac. Keep up the good work.

  3. Careless words can become a bad habit. I am contrite. Alas, I have been taken to the woodshed for good cause. CM is correct on three counts: morally, historically, and rhetorically. Or as Samuel Clemens would have put it: “The difference between the right word and one the is almost right is like the difference between lightning and lightning bugs.” Apologies to Abe too for taking his name in vain.

  4. Master Donovan – this is more explosive than your olive oil article – you’re inching closer to hate speech every day. Thanks for the link – great article.

  5. An accurate and deep understanding of an issue that has plagued and escaped “Western” minds for centuries. Thank you G. Murphy Donovan. Yet, one thing should be added: Islam is not a religion but an ideology; ideologies cannot be cured or “reformed”.
