School of ‘Isis runaway’ had cracked down on radicalism

Pupils at a school attended by one of the three teenagers allegedly stopped from travelling to Syria last week were told recently that Friday prayers must be taken only in English amid fears of student radicalisation. New rules, including the requirement that a teacher must always be present during the prayer sessions, were enforced three weeks ago at Preston Manor School in Wembley, northwest London, pupils claim. 

Apparently the families of the three boys who have been apprehended in Turkey trying to join ISIS found them mising on Friday morning. Thier first thought was to look at the mosque. Their second thought was to lok for their passports. When they were not where they should be their third thought was to contact Councillor Muhammed Butt, the leader of Brent Council. he suggested the police. 

The two younger boys (17) are cousins, described as bright but naive (one wants to be a doctor – what a surprise) who were influenced by the older boy (19). 

Another pupil at the school said that last year the school tried to forbid the wearing of the abaya by girl pupils but girls became so angry the school abandoned the attempt to impose uniform discipline.

The cousins and older teenager were questioned for 24 hours in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. They were bailed on Sunday night.

Mr Butt said the result was a “happy ending”, adding: “I met the boys this morning. It just sounds like they have got caught up in the rush of emotion.”
