Sexual Stalinism in Nashville Schools
Roger Simon writes in the Epoch Times:
Sometimes, it’s hard to believe I live in a red state, or if there are any red states other than Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Florida where the leadership actually looks out for the people—those that voted them into office in the first place.
My wife recently shared an email with me that came to her inbox from Cindy Goddard, the chair of the Davidson County (contiguous with Nashville) chapter of the Moms4Liberty. I quote with Ms. Goddard’s permission:
“On another note, Metro [Nashville] teachers are required to take training in DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). Some, if not all, are doing that training this week. I talked to a teacher friend of mine tonight after the training. Metro teachers had homework, and she said she kept missing a question that she could not figure out.
“Finally, she realized the question was, ‘Is gender an internal instinct?’ She kept answering ‘NO.’ That was the question she missed. They wanted the answer to be ‘YES.’ She stated that in order to continue with the test and finish the homework, they were REQUIRED TO ANSWER ‘yes.’ So, every Metro teacher has now stated (or will soon state) that gender is an internal instinct. Does anyone find that to be a problem?”
Er, yes—anybody sane.
Nevertheless, our new New American Stalinists—in the tradition of the original Stalin who, for his malign purposes, declared war on genetics in favor of Trofim Lysenko’s bizarre theories—are positing their “truths” about sexuality. Obey them or forfeit your right to teach (and likely future employment along with it).
And forget freedom of speech in a democracy. That’s so 18th century. It was over long before Twitter and Facebook slammed it to the ground and stomped on it.
Teachers, here’s the “truth” you are now required to convey. Gender is internal, something you make up for yourself, and therefore is fluid. It doesn’t have to do with genitalia, hormones, or even chromosomes. You are what you think you are, for the moment anyway. Biology has nothing to do with destiny and the book of Genesis—Adam and Eve and all that—is an ancient myth devised by religious fanatics to oppress us.
So if your students are getting puberty blockers or hormone treatments or even genital surgery, don’t be alarmed. Encourage them. And speaking of puberty blockers, so what if no one really knows what they do to the human brain? Even if it is a phase, these kids are depressed! You’ve got to do something, right?
Now, Nashville is known to be a blue city—aren’t they all—so no one should be completely surprised that such absurd reactionary swill is being promulgated in its schools for political purposes.
But above city government, governors have a fair amount of control of their states’ public educational system, as does Gov. Bill Lee here in red Tennessee. He would have the power, as would state Commissioner of Education Peggy Schwinn, to stop Stalinist educational indoctrination of this nature, if they so desired. So far, little has happened.
As we have seen, similar attempts are being made in the educational systems of nearly every state—and have been for decades—to evolve them into being exclusively progressive indoctrination camps, if they aren’t already. And many, in not most, are. Not even the Chinese—who spend more time on actual education, the fools—do it as well and with such assiduous devotion as American “educators.”
The grand irony of all this endless diversity, equity, and inclusion brainwashing we live with is that, consciously or not, fad or not, it works to exacerbate the very thing it says it is trying to diminish. By accusing people of bigotry where it doesn’t exist, they create bigotry. Was that their real intention all along?
Quite possibly. I don’t know. But as products of our moribund and biased educational system themselves, it’s hard not to be suspicious.
But speaking of understanding and education, I would suspect only a few readers knew what I was referring to when I mentioned Lysenko. It’s not your fault in the slightest. Though it should be, now more than ever, Soviet history is barely touched upon in most of our high schools. The teachers themselves don’t know enough about it to teach it. And this lack of knowledge increases as the “wokeness” of the teachers increases—or is rammed down their throats.
The story of Lysenko, Stalin’s favored scientist, would be particularly instructional to today’s world because of its monumental misuse of science similar to what we are seeing before our eyes now in a number of situations, including COVID-19, of course. Here’s just a sample from Wikipedia (still good in this instance). I would suggest you read it all if you haven’t.
“In 1940, Lysenko became director of the Institute of Genetics within the USSR‘s Academy of Sciences, and he used his political influence and power to suppress dissenting opinions and discredit, marginalize, and imprison his critics, elevating his anti-Mendelian theories to state-sanctioned doctrine.
“Soviet scientists who refused to renounce genetics were dismissed from their posts and left destitute. Hundreds if not thousands of others were imprisoned. Several were sentenced to death as enemies of the state, including the botanist Nikolai Vavilov. Lysenko’s ideas and practices contributed to the famines that killed millions of Soviet people; the adoption of his methods from 1958 in the People’s Republic of China had similarly calamitous results, culminating in the Great Chinese Famine of 1959 to 1962.”
As the French say, Fauci avant la lettre.
