So You Think You’re Having a Middle Age Crisis, eh?

How dark were the Dark Ages? In his book, The Wisdom of the Middle Ages, Michael Kellogg quotes Barbara Tuchman as saying that even the end of them — the 14th century — was “a violent, tormented, bewildered, suffering and disintegrating age.”

In other words, he comments, very much like the present.
