Signs that spring is on its way. Snowdrops in the garden of an old English country house yesterday.
The definition of the flowers isn’t the best, but what caught my eye about this particular clump was the plant next to it, the black grass, or mondo grass or ophiopogon (whatever one prefers to call it) growing so close to the snowdrops that it almost looks like a black plant with white flowers. My camera focused more on the black leaves than the white flowers. I thought it quite striking.

Green mossy rock and fern as a backdrop. Perfect.

That rock garden is 19th century, built on the site that was the east wing of the Elizabethan house. That was demolished in 1750 and the current house was built about 200 yards away. The moss was like velvet.
