TALKING FEMINISM—for The National Council of Jewish Women
by Phyllis Chesler
Sue Shames and Phyllis Chelser
They asked me to talk about “A Politically Incorrect Feminist” and it drew almost 100 people to the Council headquarters. They were a sweet, sharp, and savvy group. Everyone looked familiar—but really, I did not know anyone personally. It was an upper West side gathering of strongly held opinions. I talked about feminism, both then and now—and was then asked about feminism but also about anti-Semitism and Israel. I thank Natalie Katz, Priscilla Balch, and my old high school classmates, Sue Shames, whose idea this all was. Thank you to one and all for a lovely and lively afternoon.
