Terrorist attack on London underground. Second bomb being defused

My home city;again. Thankfully no reports of fatalities, please pray that this remains the situation. Live updates from the Telegraph

An explosion caused by a suspected “bucket bomb” on a London Underground train at Parsons Green is being treated by police as a terrorist attack.

Scotland Yard said “a number of people” had been injured, adding that it was “too early” to confirm the cause of the blast during the Friday morning rush-hour. No arrests have so far been made and a major manhunt is under way. Other terrorists have not gone away and the bomb in the luggage was an old IRA technique. But they usually gave coded warnings first. I’ll not leap to conclusions, but it is Friday….

Some passengers are said to have suffered facial burns. Others were trampled and suffered crush injuries in the rush to escape the packed carriage. New Londoners are not used to the old calm, instinctive, evacuation drill.

Emergency services including armed police rushed to the scene after being alerted at around 8.20am.

Prime Minister Theresa May is to chair a meeting of the Government’s Cobra emergencies committee this afternoon to discuss the incident.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has appealed for calm following the Parsons Green  terror incident, saying London “will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism”.  Because it’s all part and parcel of living in a big city, of course.
