Texas synagogue siege: Terror cops give update after two UK men arrested

From The Manchester Evening News and Greater Manchester Police

A man arrested yesterday in Manchester in connection with the Texas Synagogue attack remains in custody, police have confirmed.

Officers have this evening confirmed they have been granted an ‘extension of custody’ in order to question this man and another who was arrested in Birmingham.

A GMP spokesman said in an update: “Officers from Counter Terrorism Police North West are continuing with their investigation following the events in Texas, they are working closely with and are supporting US law enforcement. . . We continue to work closely with colleagues from other forces.

Unlike the two teenagers (believed to be Malik Faisal Akram’s young sons) who were released quickly without charge, to ask for extra time for questioning these men suggests that they are of significant interest. I do not believe that he flew to the US, then travelled across a continent to Texas, then identified a synagogue, then obtained an illegal firearm without some help, finance and encouragement.
