The Conservative campaign in Canada’s General Election

By William Corden

Of course I want the Tories to win after the milquetoast Government we’ve had over the past ten years but…….
The Conservatives campaign is just a disaster.
Some of the ads on T.V. make you cringe they are so awful and they’re frittering away the lead they once had because they have no message.
The Liberals only have to do a “Joe Biden” and they’ve got a good chance of winning because the voters are so gullible.
If I were running their campaign (and I couldn’t because I’m no good at that sort of stuff 😊) I would get some pros in and re-focus before it’s too late.
It’s amateurish, it’s cheap and it’s empty.. worse even than the Socialists campaign and that’s about as bad as you can get.
Time to ring the alarms bells and beat a new path.

    1. I don’t know … it’s the second largest country on Earth in land area, unlimited resources , lots of space for more people and yet here we are like the tail of kite.
Back in the 70’s it was one of the top places to emigrate, along with Australia, New Zealand and even South Africa, the wages and conditions were better than Europe, as were the opportunities for a better life. Clean, unpolluted and safe

It all worked well before the political changes.
First the European Union opened up so many more jobs, so skilled people weren’t that desperate to leave.
Then the host countries started to tighten their qualification requirements for residency making it only a place for highly qualified applicants and even then after a years long review process.
You had to Cross South Africa off the list because it became a failed state with murder and corruption eclipsing the former wealthy status.
      So what do we do?
You look at a place like Malaysia with a population less than ours, an area 1/30th the size and yet they have done miracles despite embedded, Olympic scale, corruption.

Look at a map of Canada and you’ll see one spindly road connecting us across the continent, vast unpopulated areas and yet we won’t let anyone in.
Not only that but we haven’t had a major infrastructure project in the country since the 1960s.
What will save us ? History only turns up the type of guy we need once in a generation and I don’t see one on the horizon. We’ll just stumble along aimlessly because we’re too big to be taken over.
Maybe split it into two countries and have them compete against one another in the economic wars.

Danielle Smith of Alberta isn’t a guy but she might be the ticket. On the economy is she very good, but a little soft on social issues. She is childless so may not understand how importnat children are to families, hence her lack of opposition to boys in girls sports.

Let Jordan Peterson back in. He fled Canada recently so the Libs won’t execute him He could advise her. Maxime Bernier gets it and Poilievre gets it occasionally.

Anyway as an American I like Canada and hope it overcomes its problems. Just booked our annual vacation in BC and Alberta this week. Hope they don’t see my license plate.

    1. I have listened a lot to Jordan Peterson and I agree with pretty much everything he says but he’s becoming a bit arrogant these days and he’s admitted to being on some sort of mood medication. That alone makes me suspicious of him.
I don’t know enough about Danielle Smith to make a comment but provincial Premiers in this country have very little influence on the affairs of the nation and very rarely make it on the big stage.
If Alberta could free up its energy reserves there would be a new Capital in the country.
Enjoy your trip up here, if we had the same weather you have in California, nobody would ever leave .😊
      Take it easy
