Good get, JS. Any “agreement” between an evolved democracy and a theocracy is just a piece of paper. The Ayatollahs play for time while we play the fool. Alas, the West may not get it until Israel is gone. Then it may be too late. These are not the best of times.
As an Iranian-American whose father was assassinated by the Khomeiniist regime, and who loathes and has fought them for 36 years, I must say that this article has SO MANY historical mistakes that one can drive a truck through it.
Iran was ALWAYS Iran in Farsi. IF Westerner called it Persia and then decided to call it Iran, it had ZIP to do with Reza Shah. I suggest writers who want to make a valid point, do so by NOT gazing at their navels but also consulting important historical Iranian texts or at least discussing with Iranian historians who can explain in a contextually concise fashion.
