“The Tongue is Also a Fire”: The Left, Madness, and Manners

by James Como (May 2015)

“Wait, hold on here. Is this a barbershop? If we can’t talk straight in a barbershop, then where can we talk straight? We can’t talk straight no where else. You know, this ain’t nothin’ but healthy conversation, that’s all. . . . nobody is exempt in the barbershop.”

  1. Excellent article! I’m not perfect, but I wish more civility and manners were still taught. I keep thinking about that footnote (1) and remember Star Trek, The Borg…”Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated”. It feels to me, that is what they are trying to do.

  2. When I wrote this article I had not yet heard of The Silencing: How the Left is Killing Free Speech, by Kirsten Powers. In it she documents the jihadist disposition of the Left against their adversaries, providing just the right amount of historical context (e.g. Marcuse’s admonition that no holds are barred), naming names, and amply documenting her charges. Her evidence is up-to-date, her sources politically eclectic, and her tone temperate. Neither a Conservative nor a Republican, she simply refuses to check her brain at the Liberal door, even as she enters.
