I saw this on X Twitter while researching my previous post. Now it is in the Telegraph I’m confident to repeat it.
A Transport for London (TfL) tube tannoy was used to lead a pro-Palestine chant by protesters on a train heading to a march on Saturday afternoon. The 13-second clip posted on social media showed a packed Underground carriage filled with demonstrators.
The tannoy voice is heard to chant “free, free”, prompting the protesters to respond “Palestine”.
The voice then added: “I hope you all have a blessed day today. And look after yourselves. And keep all those people in your prayers. Have a good day.”
The cheerleading prompted a warm round of applause and cheers from protesters heading to the march.
I’m with the X commentators who said
* A London tube driver leading a “Free Palestine” chant over a tannoy. Totally inappropriate @TfL. These useful idiots are creating significant anxiety amongst the Jewish community. Not here. Not in our city.
And
* Would that tube driver stop, think & consider his own safety before antagonistically blurting into a chorus of “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles” down the tannoy to a tube load of Millwall fans? Yes. So why did he not deploy the same sort of caution; stop, think & consider the safety of ALL his passengers before using the communication system meant for safety announvements, to gear up a load of onboard pro-Palestine protestors with a chant that incites hatred of others? Further, what he’s done is effectively boost their belligerence right before they surface to the streets above.
Some commentators on social media criticised TfL and Sadiq Khan, the London mayor, for “creating a culture of fear in London”.
Update from the London Evening Standard
British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating after a Tube driver reportedly led a chant of “free, free Palestine” on a London Underground. The force said it was aware of footage circulating on social media which suggests chants were being led by the driver over the intercom and sung by passengers on a packed Tube as protesters headed to Marble Arch to take part in a pro-Palestine rally.
British Transport Police Assistant Chief Constable Sean O’Callaghan said the force was “aware of footage circulating on social media which suggests chants are led by driver of a train in London earlier . . .BTP are working with Transport for London and investigating the matter.”
The driver has been criticised by Minister for London Paul Scully, who said said staff should “focus on the day job” and warned against stoking tension in the capital. He suggested Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) “need to get staff focused on the day job of safely moving people from A to B”.
The demonstration by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is taking place at the same time as one by an Islamist extremist group that celebrated the massacre of Israelis by terrorists two weeks ago. Prominent members of Hizb ut-Tahrir – which former prime ministers Sir Tony Blair and David Cameron attempted to ban – have called for “Muslim armies” to now “move to liberate the whole land of Palestine”.
Speakers Corner Steve is around London today reporting on X; you could do worse that look at his photographs and comments on the ground. 100,000 + people, very little police control, too many useful idiots (I knew there was a reason I don’t frequent Starbucks over and above their lousy apology for a cup of tea)
The Stop the War coalition (which war – they were supposed to be about the Iraq war, which is long over) are present, holding banners which effectively call for the destruction of Israel. From the River to the Sea Palestine will be Free.
Free how? Free from what? Jews, of course. Judenfrei, and we know where that led.
However despite all normal people knowing what that means the Metropolitan Police have said the call will not be challenged by them
The Metropolitan Police will allow pro-Palestinian protesters to chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine must be free” despite the Home Secretary asking them to crack down on anti-Semitic slogans.
Earlier this week, Suella Braverman said the chant had become a “staple of anti-Semitic discord” and was “widely understood as a demand for the destruction of Israel”.
Ade Adelekan, the Met’s deputy assistant commissioner, said that the “river to the sea chant” had been heard “frequently at demonstrations for many years”. Mr Adelekan said officers would take action if it appeared the words were being chanted outside a synagogue, Jewish school, or at a Jewish person in an attempt to intimidate them. It’s being broadcast today at all and every Jewish person with ears to ear or eyes to see.
Police have been told to report any anti-semitic or extremist behaviour by foreign nationals at pro-Palestine protests to the Home Office so their visas could be revoked. Robert Jenrick, the Immigration Minister, has written to all 43 police forces in England and Wales to ask them to report any foreign individuals caught up in any potential unlawful or extremist activities for their right to stay in the UK to be reviewed.
The Telegraph also understands that the Home Office has already written to a handful of foreign nationals warning them that the Government is minded to revoke their visas because of their involvement in anti-semitic behaviour following the Hamas terror attack on Israel. Just like the Rochdale rapists who still have not been deported. I’ll believe it when I see it.
This is the old curse, May you live in interesting times.

You non-believers will be out-birthed /
Your time at the top is done /
Displacing you from this land /
Will be our grotesque fun.
Your values of justice, kindness, brotherhood, and such, you see, are really not much /
when with passion, courage, self-respect you are so far out of touch.
